Repetir conjugation preterite

Actually, the spanish Preterite tense works like the past tense. In fact, it is one of the five forms that denotes actions that have already happened in the past.

It describes completed tasks in general.

The Spanish word for past tense is ‘preterite’.

For example, one could say ‘Repeti paella porque estaba riquusima’. Now, that would actually mean ‘I had a second helping of paella because it was very tasty’.

Spanish verbs are divided into three groups (-ar, -ir, and -er) and it alters (“conjugate”) depending on who did the action and when it transpired.

Repetir Conjugation

Converting a verb to Preterite in Spanish is quite easy. Firstly, strip the -ar, -ir, or -er from normal verbs. And, add the proper ending from the chart below to make the preterite in Spanish.

-yo

-tu

-aste

-ella, usted

– nosotros

-amos

-imos

-vosotros

–asteis

-isteis, etc.

The nosotros form is identical to the present tense form. Speakers can discern when something happened by using temporal terms like ayer (yesterday).

However, the irregular Preterite tense can be a bit tricky.

All normal verbs can readily be converted to the preterite tense. But, irregular verb conjugations are difficult to remember.

Fortunately, most of the most typical irregular preterite verbs have a form. Now, this form includes a new stem and distinct ends for a few subjects.

The fact that the ser and ir preterite combinations are the same is also worth noting.

For example,

Use the stem words estar and estuv to write

-yo estuve

-tu estuviste

-el estuvo, etc.

Also, use the stem poder to write:

-pud-

-yo pude, el pudo.
